This project lacks the best documentation, but is worth covering conceptually.
In this performance piece, audience members were invited to join a line in order to gain access to the “Club”. This space existed out of sight, behind some curtains. One by one, their ‘brain waves’ would be scanned, and ‘visually displayed’ to the rest of the crowd by means of video projection (developed using p5j’s). Based on the quality of one’s vibes, they’d either be granted access the “Club” or asked to wait on the sidelines.
This performance satired the often arbitrary and divisive metrics used to screen people at events. Hence, I put on an obnoxious character who lightly ridiculed those who did not qualify for access.
It is worth noting that despite the results being completely random, participants reported feeling a sense of pride when they were granted access to the “Club”.
